How do I make an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment with the Embassy by sending an email to mwharare@kln.gov.my.

Between what times can I submit my application?

You may submit your applications from Monday to Friday between 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM, except on Zimbabwean and Malaysian public holidays.

How can I pay at the Embassy?

The Embassy currently accepts cash and telegraphic transfer (TT) payments. We do not accept credit/debit cards or other forms of payment. For TT payments, please include your full details and transfer the amount to the Embassy’s account as detailed below.

After making the transfer to the designated account, IMMEDIATELY email mwharare@kln.gov.my and cc consularmwharare68@gmail.com. The Embassy’s telephone number is +263 242 33 44 13/14.

Can the Embassy provide me with funds if I am stranded in Zimbabwe or countries under its purview?

No, the Embassy is unable to provide financial support. We strongly recommend contacting your travel insurance provider and family members in Malaysia for assistance in such situations.

CERTIFICATE OF GOOD CONDUCT

What is the procedure to apply for a Certificate of Good Conduct?

The Certificate of Good Conduct can be obtained at the Embassy of Malaysia in Harare. The application MUST be completed online and takes approximately 30–90 days to process.

If you require assistance, please consult the online guide. Once you receive confirmation that your Certificate of Good Conduct is ready, make an appointment with the Embassy for collection.

Please bring the following items to your appointment:

1. Passport.
2. Collection slip.
3. Collection fee (please bring the exact amount in cash only).

EMERGENCY CERTIFICATE

What should I do if I lose my passport in Zimbabwe or a country under the Embassy’s purview?

An Emergency Certificate (E.C.) is issued to Malaysian citizens who have lost their passports abroad or who are being repatriated. The E.C. is valid for 9 months and CAN ONLY BE USED TO RETURN TO MALAYSIA. Applications can typically be processed on the same day.

You will need the following documents to apply for an Emergency Certificate:

1. Photocopy of the lost/stolen passport (if available).
2. Malaysian Identity Card (IC).
3. Birth certificate.
4. Confirmed ticket to Malaysia.
5. Police report for the lost/stolen passport.
6. Two (2) passport sized photographs.
7. Application fee (cash only).

Note: Please call the Embassy at +263 242 33 44 13/14 during office hours, or +263 77 500 1441 after hours, on weekends, or on public holidays once you have gathered all the required documents to schedule an appointment.

ARRESTS OF MALAYSIANS

Malaysian citizens in Zimbabwe and countries under the Embassy’s purview are subject to local laws and judicial procedures, which may differ significantly from those in Malaysia. If you are arrested, you should request the police to notify the Malaysian Embassy immediately at +263 242 33 44 13/14 during office hours, or +263 77 500 1441 after office hours. You may also email the Embassy at mwharare@kln.gov.my. Under the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, the host government is obliged to notify the Embassy without delay of the arrest or detention of a Malaysian citizen. The Embassy is committed to assisting you and your family within the limits of its authority and in accordance with local law. We can help imprisoned Malaysians contact their families and, if necessary, facilitate the transfer of funds between the family and the detained individual.

DEATH OF MALAYSIANS

When a Malaysian citizen passes away in Zimbabwe or any country under the Embassy’s purview, the Consular Section of the Malaysian Embassy should be notified immediately by calling +263 242 33 44 13/14 during office hours, or +263 77 500 1441 after office hours. You can also email mwharare@kln.gov.my. Please schedule an appointment with the Embassy to formally register the death.

Bring the following documents to your appointment:

1. Original Malaysian passport of the deceased.
2. Original Identity Card (IC).
3. Original Certificate of Death issued by the local municipality.

These documents will be sent to Malaysia so that the death can be officially registered with the Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN). The next of kin of Malaysian citizens who have passed away in Zimbabwe may also contact the Consular Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Putrajaya for assistance. Their telephone numbers are +603-80008000 or +603-88874570 during office hours, and +603-88892746 (Duty Officer) outside office hours. You may also email dutyofficer@kln.gov.my. A Consular Officer will notify the next of kin and assist the family in coordinating with a local mortuary to repatriate the remains to Malaysia or to arrange for a local burial or cremation. All mortuary and related expenses remain the responsibility of the family of the deceased.

LEGALIZATIONS

Can the Embassy legalize Malaysian documents for use in Zimbabwe and other accredited countries under its purview?

No, the Embassy is only able to legalize documents issued by Zimbabwe and accredited countries for use in Malaysia.

Does the Embassy provide translation services?

No, the Embassy does not provide translation services.

What is the procedure for the attestation of documents related to property purchases in Malaysia, Certifying True Copies and Statutory Declarations?

The attestation of such documents can be done at the Embassy of Malaysia in Harare. To have your documents attested, you must sign them in the presence of a Consular Officer at the Embassy. The Consular Officer will then sign the documents after you have placed your signature(s). Please note that documents issued by the Zimbabwean government, municipalities, or countries under the Embassy’s purview CANNOT be attested and MUST BE legalized instead.

Please bring the following items to your appointment:

1. Valid passport/ID/IC.
2. Unsigned documents to be attested
3. Application fee (please bring the exact amount in cash only)

Documents issued by other countries MUST first be verified (as Certified True Copies) by the Embassy of their respective country.

Note: Signatures made in the absence of a Consular Officer will not be accepted.

VISA

Do Zimbabweans and other nationals from Zambia, Malawi, Mauritius, Seychelles, and Comoros need a visa to travel to Malaysia for a social visit? Likewise, do Malaysians require a visa to travel to the aforementioned countries?

How much time does the Embassy need to process my visa application?

The visa application process takes 3 working days.

I am staying with friends/family in Malaysia and therefore have no hotel booking. How do I proceed?

One of the requirements for a Social Visit Visa is proof of accommodation. If you are staying with friends or family, they must provide a letter stating their relationship to you, the address where you will be staying, and the duration of your stay. The letter must be addressed to the Embassy including a photocopy of their passport, identity card, or visa.
