During the Working Visit of YAB Prime Minister to the UAE, a Round Table Meeting with the Captains of Industry was hosted by MITI and MIDA on 5 October 2023 at the Emirates Palace Hotel. The session was participated by 41 industry leaders of UAE companies, among others including Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Mubadala, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company (ADQ), Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), MASDAR, Al-Dahra, DP World, LuLu Group and Royal Jet.
H.E. Thani Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade of UAE was also present. During the session, YAB Prime Minister emphasized Malaysia’s commitment to a policy shift focusing on renewable energy, technological advancement, and food security. YAB PM further shared recent investment developments in Malaysia including the notable investment from US-based Elon Musk and Chinese automaker Zhejiang Geely Holding Group into the Automotive High Technology Valley in Malaysia.
YAB Prime Minister also revealed Malaysia’s new masterplan to streamline business processes and enhance incentives, to ensure that Malaysia remains a competitive destination to further improve the country’s appeal to investors. YAB PM further invited investors to witness the transformation that the country has undergone.
The UAE side in their interventions remarked that they are interested and prepared to explore new areas of collaboration including in renewable energy, food security, ports, health, and connectivity.
