Ambassador H.E. Dato’ Syed Norulzaman was on a study visit to Chengdu, Sichuan Province on 26-28 February 2009 at the invitation of the Sichuan government for a briefing on the quake reconstruction and investment opportunities. The Ambassador was accompanied by officers of the embassy, head of Malaysian Trade and Investment Offices in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu, and representatives from Maybank in Beijing and the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) in Kuala Lumpur.
While in Chengdu, the Ambassador called on the Executive Vice Governor of the Sichuan Provincial People’s Government, Mayor of Chengdu Municipal Government. He also met with Director General of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Sichuan Province, and was briefed by Department of Commerce Affairs and Development and Reform Commission of Sichuan Province. The delegation also took the opportunity to visit Maipu (Sichuan) Communication Technology Co. Ltd.
