On 23 March 2013, the Dongguan Foreign Affairs Office organised the Diplomatic Golf Tournament. Among those who participated in the tournament were Consulates officials from Guangzhou, business people and party as well as government officials of Dongguan Government. The Malaysian Consulate was represented by four of its officials. In his speech on behalf of the Consular Corp during the pre-tournament dinner, the Malaysian Consul General, Mr. Francisco Munis, believed that many of the participants were happy with the opportunity not only to enjoy the golf game but also to meet with old friends and interacting with new ones. The goodwill golf gathering is indeed an event that is useful in nurturing further networking and renewing friendship.

He further stressed that the yearly golf event organised since 2010 is not merely a game, but also serves as a conduit for continuous enhancement of the warm and cordial relations between Dongguan and the Consular Corps. The continuity of the yearly golf event by the Dongguan Municipal Peoples’ Government demonstrates that the relation between Dongguan and the Consular Corps are at all time cordial. He also hoped that interactions, both at the personal and organisational levels will continue towards progressive networking and friendship leading to greater prospect for promoting further exchanges and continuous cooperation between the Consular Corp and Dongguan.
