OFFICIAL VISIT OF MALAYSIAN CONSUL GENERAL TO CHANGSHA AND ZHUZHOU IN HUNAN PROVINCE FROM 16-18 MAY 2016

Mr. Muzambli Markam, the Consul General of Malaysia in Guangzhou undertook an official visit to Hunan Province from 16-18 September 2016. The 3-day visit was aimed to familiarize and to better understand the social economic structure of the province. The Consul General was accompanied by Mr. Abdul Razak Junaidi, Consul (Immigration) and Mr. E Kim Tien, Consul (Information).    

 

2.         Among the highlights of the visit included a meeting with Ms. Xiao Bailing, Director General of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Hunan Province, visits to Sany Group, CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. and Broad Home Co. Ltd.

 

3.         During the meeting with Ms. Xiao, the latter gave an overview on Hunan Province and elaborated on the current development between Malaysia and Hunan, in particular the close collaboration between Hunan and the State of Terengganu. Both sides agreed that more could be done to further strengthen bilateral relations between Malaysia and Hunan in particular two-way trade and investment, culture, education and tourism. The Consul General was confident that the existing direct air route between Changsha and Kuala Lumpur operated by Airasia would better connect Malaysia and Hunan whilst contributing towards an increase people-to-people exchanges. 

 

4.         On the corporate aspect, the Consul General and delegation was given a comprehensive briefing by the respective Chinese companies during former’s tour and inspection of their operations. As it stands, CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. is the biggest Chinese investor in Malaysia from Hunan and plans to further expand its existing operation in Malaysia.
