RIBBON-CUTTING CEREMONY OF MALAYSIAN PAVILION AT THE 3RD PHASE OF THE 117TH CANTON FAIR IN GUANGZHOU, 1 MAY 2015

   On 1 May 2015, Mr. Muzambli Markam, the Consul General of Malaysia in Guangzhou, Mr. Li Jinqi, the Director of China Foreign Trade Center and Mr. P. Suresh Kumar, Consul (Trade) jointly officiated the Malaysian Pavilion at the 117th Canton Fair.  The event was held at Hall 10.2, Canton Fair Complex in Pazhou, Guangzhou. Also present was Mr. Ruzlisham Mat Diah, Consul (Investment) and Mr. Michael Tay, Consul (Tourism).

   Among the highlights was the ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Consul General, Mr. Li and Consul (Trade) that was witnessed by local government officials as well as the Malaysian exhibitors and members of the public. The event was also widely covered by the local media, namely GDTV, GZTV, Xinhua News Agency. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Mr. Muzambli accompanied Mr. Li and visited the Malaysian booths to introduce the various made in Malaysia products.  

   Canton Fair is the world largest trade fair and the presence of Malaysian companies augurs well for the Malaysian branding. In addition, Malaysian participation reflected the standard and quality of products Malaysia could offer, not only to the Chinese market but also to the other international market.  

   A total of 38 Malaysian exhibitors occupying 42 booths participated at the 3rd phase of the 117th Canton Fair from 1-5 May 2015. Most of the Malaysian companies that took part were from the consumer goods sector which includes food & beverages (F&B), agricultural products, household products, and fire safety products.
