Good evening
First of all I would like to extend my heartiest appreciation to Sheraton Zhuhai Hotel, for inviting me to the launching of Malaysia food festival. It is indeed a great pleasure and privilege to be a part of this important event. I will make my speech short to allow all our guest to enjoy more of the food. As the saying goes "seeing is believing", in this case it would be "tasting is believing".
Ladies & Gentlemen,
Malaysians are always passionate about food. Just like me, Malaysians love to eat and we eat almost all the time. This is probably because Malaysian food comes in a wide variety of sources, mainly from the cuisine of the Malays, Chinese, Indians, Nyonya, Indian-Muslims and others, to name a few. In fact, nothing arouses Malaysians more than a discussion of food and everyone has his or her view of which is the best Malaysian food or which food tastes better. But one thing is for sure, in Malaysia, there is always something to suit everyone’s taste buds.
Thus, we are very excited about the effort by the Sheraton Zhuhai Hotel in collaboration with the Consulate General of Malaysia to organise the Malaysia Food Festival this year. This event will serve as a vital opportunity for our friends in Zhuhai to learn more about Malaysia as a must-visit holiday and food destination. I have been in Guangdong for more than one and a half years now, and I am pleased to share with you that apart from Guangzhou, at least for myself, the most frequently visited city is Zhuhai. I have visited Zhuhai at least twice a month and I will continue to visit Zhuhai throughout my term here as Consul General.
Hence, with the launch of this Food and Cultural Festival, we are happy to introduce Malaysian cuisine to the local people. I hope this will be the beginning of many more Malaysia Food Festival to be held in Zhuhai. Before I conclude, I sincerely welcome all our Chinese friends to visit our beautiful country and to truly experience the gastronomic Malaysia has to offer.
