On 27 September 2016, Spring Airlines and Shenzhen Airport Authorities held an official ceremony at the Main Terminal, Shenzhen International Airport to commemorate their inaugural flight from Shenzhen, Guangdong Province to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Present at the event was Mr. Muzambli Markam, the Consul General of Malaysia and Ms. Noral’Ain Md. Salleh, Vice Consul (Tourism).
2. From the Chinese side, Mr. Lou Heru, Deputy Director General, Shenzhen Transportation Committee, Mr. Luo Yude, General Manager of Shenzhen Airport, Mr. Zhang Wuan, Vice President of Spring Airlines and other airport officials were also present. During the ceremony, Mr. Muzambli, Mr. Lou and Mr. Zhang each gave a short speech followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony and group photo session.
3. With the introduction of the flight by Spring Airlines, it is now the second airline operating from Shenzhen airport offering direct flights to Malaysia. Prior to this, Airasia was the only other airline offering scheduled flights to Malaysia from Shenzhen.
