YAB Datuk Amar Abang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Tun Abang Haji Openg, Chief Minister of Sarawak State led a delegation to undertake a working visit to Foshan and Guangzhou, Guangdong Province from 22-24 March 2017. During the visit, YAB Datuk Amar visited Foshan Conceiving Board-Manufacturing Co, Ltd. factory in Foshan and witnessed the signing of Heads of Agreement between Smart Housing R&D Sdn. Bhhd. and Foshan Conceiving Board-Manufacturing Co, Ltd. to court investment and provide affordable housing in Sarawak. The Sarawak Chief Minister was accompanied by YB Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi bin Abdul Ghani, State Secretary and other senior State Ministers and Deputies. The delegation was received by Mr. Muzambli Markam, the Consul General of Malaysia and other Consulate General’s staff.

In line with the Sarawak Chief Minister’s vision to promote and encourage digital economy in Sarawak, the delegation met with senior officials from Huawei Malaysia in Foshan and was briefed on the latest technological platform available and how best the company could assist Sarawak to realize its goal in transforming Sarawak’s information and technology landscape. Following the meeting, several members of the Sarawak delegation visited Huawei’s Headquarters in Shenzhen to further understand the company’s operation.
3. Overall, the Chief Minister’s visit to Guangdong was successful with the aim to promote closer link especially in the field of investment and ICT cooperation between Sarawak and Guangdong in particular, Malaysia and China in general.
