YAB Ir. Hj. Datuk Seri Idris Haron, the Chief Minister of the State of Malacca and wife undertook a working visit to Guangdong, China from 15-18 March 2015. YAB Chief Minister was accompanied by several State Exco members and senior government officials from the State of Malacca. During the 4-day visit, the delegation tour the cities of Guangzhou and Zhuhai.
In Guangzhou, YAB Chief Minister paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Hu Chunhua, Party Secretary of the Guangdong Province whom also hosted an official dinner for the Malaysian delegation. Also present during the courtesy call and dinner was His Excellency Zhu Xiaodan, Governor of Guangdong Province, Madam Zhao Yufang, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province and Mr. Chen Jianhua, Mayor of Guangzhou. During the meeting, both leaders discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest and possible collaboration between the two sides, in particular to establish an air-link between Guangzhou and Malacca, and to jointly develop the port in Malacca.
As part of the concerted effort to enhanced the existing close cooperation between the State of Malacca and Guangdong Province, both the Chief Minister and the Party Secretary witnessed the signing of the Notes of Discussion on the Establishment of the Malacca-Guangdong Economic Cooperation Working Group between the State Economic Planning Unit of the State Government of Melaka, Malaysia and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, the People's Republic of China on 17 March 2015.
Minister of Malacca also took the opportunity to visit the Zhuhai International Circuit (ZIC) located in Zhuhai, which is partly owned by LBS Bina Berhad of Malaysia. YBhg. Dato' Sri Lim Hock San, the Managing Director of LBS Bina Berhad was present to received the Chief Minister and delegation. The delegation was briefed on the future development plans of ZIC and the surrounding land which would include a Museum on Admiral Zheng He' voyage to Malacca, Tourism Promotion Office for Malacca and other cultural facilities.
