The enduring friendship between Malaysia and Fiji rooted in shared history since the Malayan Emergency was warmly reflected upon during the engagement between H.E. High Commissioner Nor’ Azam Mohd Idrus and President of the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu on 27 May 2025. President Lalabalavu paid tribute to historical ties and fondly recalled his 2005 visit to Malaysia as Transport Minister, during which he spearheaded efforts to acquire a vessel for the Fiji Government. This engagement reaffirmed the strength of bilateral relations and laid a solid foundation for deeper, long-term cooperation across multiple sectors.
