On 7 May 2025, H.E. High Commissioner Nor' Azam Mohd Idrus attended the reception celebrating the 249th anniversary of U.S. Independence on board USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19). In her remarks, Ambassador Marie Damour looked forward to a future of shared prosperity and cooperation. This resonates with Malaysia, as one of the priority areas of Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025 under the ASEAN Political-Security Community is to strengthen ASEAN as an effective force for peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.
