The High Commission wishes to inform that the Acting High Commissioner, Encik Nor' Azam Mohd Idrus hosted a Hari Raya Aidil Fitri Reception at the Malaysian Residence on Saturday, 3 October 2009 from 1230 hours to 1600 hours. About 130 invited guests attended the event. The Reception was held on a Saturday to enable working Malaysians to attend as most work on weekdays.
The High Commission wishes to inform that the Acting High Commissioner, Encik Nor' Azam Mohd Idrus hosted a Hari Raya Aidil Fitri Reception at the Malaysian Residence on Saturday, 3 October 2009 from 1230 hours to 1600 hours. About 130 invited guests attended the event. The Reception was held on a Saturday to enable working Malaysians to attend as most work on weekdays.
The event was celebrated in a simple yet joyous atmosphere and all the guests enjoyed the afternoon sampling delicacies from wide array of Malaysian hari Raya cuisine such as Chicken Fried Rice, Fried Meehon, Spicy Fish, Nasi Himpit, Peanut Sauce, Lemang, Chicken Curry, Chicken Rendang, Chicken Satay, Murtabak and Roti Canai. Apart from the main dishes, guests were also treated to delicious Hari Raya cookies, Vanila Cake, Bubur Kacang Hijau, Kuih Bakar, Kuih Gula Melaka, Kuih Lompang and Agar-agar.
The Majority of the guests were Malaysians resident in Suva and Lautoka. Aside from the High Comimssion's HBS and LRS staff, Encik Nor' Azam also invited the Embassy of Indonesia Charge d' Affaires a.i. and its representatives (the only ASEAN Mission in Fiji) and several Fijian guests to the event.
The event was indeed a success and the High Commission wishes to put on record its appreciation to the Ministry for making funds available under the "Mendampingi Rakyat Malaysia" programme. It is hoped that similar and additional allocation will be provided to the High Commission for next year as well.
