The High Commission wishes to inform that the Acting High Commissioner, Encik Nor’Azam Mohd Idrus hosted a Hari Raya Aidil Fitri Reception at the Malaysian Residence on Saturday, 24 September 2011 from 1200 hours to 1530 hours. About 80 invited guests attended the event. The Reception was held on a Saturday to enable working Malaysians to attend as most work on weekdays.
The majority of the guests were Malaysians resident in Suva and Lautoka. Aside from the High Commission’s HBS and LRS, Encik Nor’Azam also invited the Embassy of Indonesia’s Ambassador and its representatives (the only ASEAN Mission in Fiji besides Malaysia) to the event.
The event was celebrated in a simple yet joyous atmosphere and all guests enjoyed the afternoon sampling from the wide array of Malaysian Hari Raya cuisine such as Nasi Impit, Lemang, Chicken Satay, Peanut Sauce, Beef and Chicken Rendang, Chicken Curry and Fried Meehon. Apart from the main dishes, guests were also treated to delicious Hari Raya cookies, Kuih Bakar, Kuih Gula Melaka and Kuih Bahulu. The event was indeed a success.
