INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE
On behalf of the Organizers, it gives us great pleasure to invite you to join us as a participant of the International Seminar on Autism 2014 which will be held in Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), Malaysia, from 22 to 23 April 2014. The Seminar aims at bringing together experts, professionals, academia, parents and communities in the area of autism as well as providing a platform for them to present their work and deliberate on related issues at an international arena. Indeed, the organizers are committed in offering a Programme of interesting and informative sessions featuring stimulating and attractive keynote speakers, workshops, presentations and discussion.
The Seminar with the theme “Autism Is Not A Tragedy, Ignorance Is” will bring together teachers, lecturers, researchers, professionals, government officials, service providers, NGOs and parents to discuss and deliberate on the latest updates and best practices in relation to autism. These includes topics such as Epidemiology of Autism, State of Autism – Updates on the latest in autism science and early detection, DSM-V and effect on diagnosis and intervention and State of art-early intervention strategies in autism which will be delivered and articulated in four Plenary Sessions and a few Special Parallel Sessions.
There will be some renowned international and local experts in autism such as Eric Fombonne, MD of McGill University, Dr. Andy Shih, Vice President of Scientific Affairs, Autism Speaks and Prof. Dr. Connie Kasari from University of California, LA. Also confirmed regional speakers are Dr. Samanmali Priyanga Sumanasena Kularatne of University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, Dr. Cheryl Dissanayake, Director of Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre, Australia and Dr.Wu, Ruth Yu Yu from, YuNing Psychiatry Clinic, Taiwan.
Our local speakers will include Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Saat Baki, Universiti Industri Selangor (UNISEL), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Raja Juanita Raja Lope, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Dr.Ranjini S.Sivanesom Developmental Pediatrician, Institute of Pediatrics, Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) and Jochebed Isaacs of Early Autism Project (EAP) Malaysia.
The Seminar will be located in the appropriate facilities of the PICC. There will also be an Exhibition Area, strategically placed for easy access to all participants. Further information and registration forms are available online.
