MALAYSIA’ S PRIME MINISTER STATEMENT IN STRENGHTENING THE BILATERAL RELATIONSHIP WITHIN THE PACIFIC ISLAND COUNTRIES.

I spoke on the phone with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji Sitiveni L. Rabuka is in an effort to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Malaysia and the island countries in the South Pacific Ocean. TYT Rabuka has expressed interest in Malaysia's development model and wants to emulate MARA's approach in empowering economic and education sectors. I welcome this wish and am ready to share Malaysian experience and expertise in the fields. In the field of education, Malaysia welcomes the presence of students from the Republic of Fiji, particularly in the TVET, STEM, and information technology programs. I also invite Fiji to join the capacity development training programme under the Malaysia Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP). This initiative will benefit the development of human resources through training and expertise sharing. I also express my gratitude for the reopening of the Fiji High Commission in Kuala Lumpur earlier this year. It reflects Fiji's firm commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties with Malaysia. As a next step, I would like to invite TYT Rabuka to immediately make an official visit to Malaysia. I believe the exchange of high-level visits will continue to strengthen ties between the two countries and open up more opportunities for strategic cooperation.
