Ong Beng Hee's name is no stranger to the international squash world. This Penang-born child once made history as the number seven (7) player in the world, besides achieving glorious success by holding gold medals at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan and 2006 in Doha. After retiring from the professional arena in 2015, he never left the squash world, and instead continued to make strides in coaching. His career journey took him to the international stage as Qatar National Coach / Technical Director in Doha, where he managed the country's squash development programme, including identifying new talent and mentoring national players. The experience reinforced his spectrum of expertise before being appointed Head National Coach of the United States Squash, and later returning to Asia to pioneer the opening of the Dream Squash Academy in Beijing. Here he is passing his experience and knowledge to the new generation, with a mission to produce more talented young players who are capable of shaking up the world. The academy is not just a training centre, but a comprehensive development platform that emphasizes the values of discipline, sportsmanship and love for squash. What's more since the squash is now officially about to compete at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics theme, interest and attention for the sport are growing rapidly in China as well as around the world. Ong Beng Hee's presence in Beijing was right on time — not only to mentor local talent, but also solidify squash's position as one of the competitive sports that has the potential to produce world champions. Ong Beng Hee's story proves that success does not end with medals or rankings, instead continues when experience and inspiration are shared with others. From the international squash court to the training arena, he remains a symbol of the glorious Malaysian fighting spirit, which lifted the name of the country and impacted the sustainability of world sports.
