WORKING VISIT OF YAB TUN DR. MAHATHIR MOHAMAD
PRIME MINISTER OF MALAYSIA TO JAPAN
10 – 12 JUNE 2018
YAB Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia will undertake a Working Visit to Tokyo, Japan from 10 to 12 June 2018 at the invitation of Nikkei Incorporated, the organizer of the 24th International Conference on The Future of Asia (Nikkei Conference). YAB Prime Minister will be accompanied by YABhg. Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
YAB Prime Minister will be attending and delivering a keynote address entitled “Keeping Asia Open – How to Achieve Prosperity and Stability”, which is also the theme of this year’s Nikkei Conference. YAB Prime Minister will be having a meeting with his counterpart, His Excellency Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan in the margin of the Conference. He will also be meeting business entities, namely the Japan Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Japan External Trade Organization and Japan-Malaysia Economic Association.
YAB Prime Minister’s attendance at the 24th Nikkei Conference will provide an opportunity for Malaysia to engage in initiatives aimed at greater economic cooperation between countries in the region.
This Working Visit would also enable Malaysia to highlight its current policies towards Japan and other countries in the region, especially related to foreign investments and trade. In addition, Malaysia could also contribute as well as share its knowledge and experiences with other Government’s representatives, business leaders and academicians from this region.
