On 28 March 2024 H.E. High Commissioner Nor’ Azam Mohd Idrus (“TYT”) was among the guests welcomed for a reception aboard HMS Tamar, a Batch 2 River-class Offshore Patrol Vessel of the United Kingdom Royal Navy permanently deployed in the Indo-Pacific. While in Fiji, HMS Tamar undertook patrols with Fijians to counter illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. During that reception, TYT engaged with, among others, Hon. Ifereimi Vasu, Minister for iTaukei Affairs, and Heads of Missions. That Honourable Minister has a deep connection with Malaysia. He is an alumnus of the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College in Kuala Lumpur and the prestigious University of Malaya, Malaysia's premier public university.
