The 29th Meeting of the ASEAN-European Union Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) was held via videoconference on Friday, 11 February 2022. It was co-chaired by Ambassador Noel Servigon, Permanent Representative of the Republic of the Philippines to ASEAN, and by Ms. Barbara Plinkert, Head of the South-East Asia Division of the European External Action Service, together with Mr. Mario Ronconi, Head of Unit for South and South-East Asia, European Commission Directorate-General for International Partnerships. Malaysia was represented by H.E. Kamsiah Kamaruddin, Permanent Representative of Malaysia to ASEAN.
The Meeting exchanged views on recent developments in both regions, including regional issues of mutual concern such as the implementation of ASEAN’s Five-Point Consensus on Myanmar, vaccine multilateralism, 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals and climate change.
This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of a Dialogue Partnership between ASEAN and the EU. The ASEAN-EU Commemorative Summit is scheduled to be held in Brussels within the year.
