On 19 June 2025, the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to ASEAN and the Mission of People’s Republic of China to ASEAN co-hosted the Jakarta Forum on ASEAN-China Relations 2025 under the theme “New Areas, New Engines and New Opportunities”. The Secretary General of ASEAN, H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn delivered the keynote address at the event, organised by the ASEAN Foundation. Panel discussions explored opportunities and challenges in emerging areas under globalisation, as well as cooperation in emerging areas to promote regional inclusivity and sustainability. In her remarks, H.E. Sarah highlighted ASEAN’s commitment to deepening ASEAN-China cooperation through the upcoming Plan of Action 2026–2030 and ASEAN-China FTA 3.0, especially in technology and digitalisation areas. She further underscored that these efforts are aligned with the “ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future” which articulated ASEAN’s aspiration towards realising a resilient, innovative, dynamic and people-centred ASEAN Community by 2045.
