Disruptions in the Gulf region have direct implications to world food security and agriculture. These include higher energy and logistic costs, increased fertilizer and agricultural input prices, and pressure on food prices and supply stability.
At the 180th Session of the FAO Council on 28 April, Malaysia called for de-escalation, dialogue, and diplomacy; the need for international maritime routes to be opened; and for the FAO to continue supporting member states manage input costs shocks and maintain agricultural production.
