A forum on Business Opportunity in Malaysia in  Machinery, Equipments and Medical Devices sectors was held at Confindustria,  Rome on 29th May 2013.  The forum was jointly organized by the Embassy and MIDA (Milan). 

 
The forum was held aimed at tapping potential investors from Italy to invest in Malaysia taking into consideration that   Italy is known for its high technology and inventions in areas especially in heavy machinery and medical devices. The forum was attended by more than 100 participants including those from  sectors such as light and heavy machineries, pharmaceutical, business consultancy as well as banking and financial institutions that supporting Italian business ventures overseas.  
 
The seminar commenced with the introductory remarks by the Ambassador, a presentation on business opportunity in Malaysia in these sectors by Puan Faridah Abdullah, a representative from MIDA HQ and on Business Opportunity in Malaysia  by MATRADE Milan.
 
On the Italian side, Mr. Luigi Antonelli, Advisory Department SIMEST Spa (Italian Authority for Business Financial Support) presented on the financial support and facilities to the Italian companies. Mr. Guido Puccio, Chairman of Galperti Group, Italy (Italian company operating in Malaysia) gave a testimonial on the company’s business experience in Malaysia.  
 
Presently, the company plans to expand its business presence in Malaysia. The President of Italy-Malaysia Friendship Association/IMFA, Ambassador Nino Felicani  spoke about  business opportunities in Malaysia  and and as the former Ambassador of Italy to Malaysia, Ambassador Felicani has a  good knowledge about the country. 
 
Towards the end of the forum, a question and answer session was held . The Forum has definitely provided an occasion to inform Italian SME’s on business environment and opportunity in Malaysia in these sectors.
