A Seminar on ASEAN Awareness held in Napoli on 27th May 2013

A Seminar on ASEAN Awareness was held at the Oriental University of Napoli on 27 May 2013. The Seminar was jointly organized by the Oriental University with the cooperation and support from the ASEAN Committee in Rome (ACR). 

 
The seminar is an initiative by the ACR to further promote and create awareness on ASEAN to Italians. The target group this time was aspiring young Italian students currently undergoing oriental studies at the University. The seminar was attended by 100 guests comprising mostly of university students and lecturers. 
 
The seminar started with the introductory remarks by Professor Giuseppe Cataldi, Vice President of the Oriental University and followed by presentations from 5 speakers. The speakers were Ambassador Tint Swai of Myanmar, Ambassador Surapit Kirtiputra of Thailand, Ambassador Halimah Abdullah of Malaysia, Ambassador August Parengkuan of Indonesia and Mrs. Grace T. Cruz Fabella, Minister of the Phillipines Embassy.
 
Topics such as the Inception and Overall Developments  in ASEAN, ASEAN Political-Security Community, ASEAN External Relations, ASEAN Economic Community and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community were presented at the seminar.
 
A question and answer session saw the seminar turned into an engaging forum with the ASEAN Ambassadors. Feedback from the students as well as the University was very positive as the forum was an avenue towards creating awareness on ASEAN.
