On 22 April, the ASEAN Committee in Rome (ACR) delivered a lecture at the University of Padova (UniPD) entitled, “ASEAN’s Growing Role in a Changing World: From Regional Cooperation to Global Engagement”.
Dato’ Zahid provided an overview of ASEAN; the Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) of the Philippines presented on her country’s 2026 Chairmanship of ASEAN; while the Ambassador of Vietnam and the DCMs of Indonesia and Thailand respectively presented on ASEAN’s Socio-Cultural, Political-Security, and Economic pillars.
Prior to the lecture, the ACR had an engagement with the Rector, Vice-Rector, Pro-Rector, and the senior management of UniPD on student and academic exchanges, and collaboration between universities on teaching, research and innovation.
The events are part of the ACRs visit to Padua to promote ASEAN’s interests and identity in Italy, coordinated by the Embassy of Malaysia in Rome and the Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Padua, Mr Manlio d’Agostino Panebianco.
