On 21 November 2013, PYT Ambassador Datin Paduka Halimah Abdullah made a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Carlo Calenda, Vice Minister for Economic Development of Italy. The meeting was to discuss the forthcoming visit of the Vice Minister to head an Italian business delegation to Malaysia from 9-10 December 2013.
PYT Ambassador took the opportunity to discuss with Vice Minister Calenda on the possible economic cooperation between Malaysia and Italy. Italy could be a major partner for economic and investment cooperation with Malaysia especially so in opportunities generated in the twelve areas of NKEAs under the ETP. It was suggested that Italy should further explore the Halal sector as well Islamic Banking and Finance where Malaysia could offer their expertise.
