On 14 October 2008, Dato? Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahman, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan and his wife, Datin Jazliza Jalaludin hosted a dinner at Malaya Restaurant, the only Malaysian restaurant known to be operating in Nagasaki. The dinner gathered close to 50 Malaysians working and studying in Nagasaki and Friends of Malaysia who comprised mostly members of Nagasaki Malaysia Society.

The guests were feted to a rich array of typical Malaysian cuisines such as satay, char koey teow, kari daging, sambal tumis udang, ayam goreng, meehoon goreng, mee Johor, nasi lemak, sambal ikan bilis, fish curry, acar sayuran, keropok etc. Malaysian traditional cakes such as kek pandan, kueh bingka, kek pisang and tropical fruits including rambutans and frozen mangosteens filled up the dessert tray.

Besides enjoying the food, many of them expressed their happiness for the opportunity to meet fellow Malaysians in Nagasaki as well as expanding their circle of friends and acquaintances among members of Nagasaki Malaysia Society.

The gathering was timely as it was held just prior to the visit to Malaysia by a delegation of Nagasaki Malaysia Society from 19 to 24 October 2008.

Prior to the dinner, Dato? Radzi met with the Mayor of Nagasaki, Mr. Tomihisa Taue, during which both parties reiterated their commitment to collaborate and enhance further relationship between Malaysia and Nagasaki.
