ASEAN COMMITTEE IN TOKYO (ACT) FAMILY DAY 2016, 15 OCTOBER 2016

On 15 October 2016, ASEAN Committee in Tokyo (ACT) Family Day 2016 was held at Kasai Rinkai Park, Tokyo. The event is held annually with the aim of building closer ties of camaraderie among ASEAN Member States.

 

This year’s ACT Family Day 2016 which was organised by the Royal Embassy of the Kingdom of Cambodia saw the participation of about 200 guests comprised of diplomatic officials along with their families and locally recruited staff from seven Embassies of ASEAN Member States in Tokyo including Malaysia. Members of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) also attended the event at the invitation of ACT.

 

HE Dato’ Ahmad Izlan Idris, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan accompanied by YBhg. Datin Rose Abdullah and other Home Based Staff as well as their family members participated in the ACT Family Day 2016. The event was officiated by HE Ms. Chea Kimtha, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Japan, followed by remarks from the Hon. Mr. Shigeo Kawai, President of TMA, as the guest of honor, which was delivered by the Hon. Mr. Nobuhiro Takahashi, a member of TMA.

 

The highlights of the event included the outdoor games for adults and children, namely, ‘Lawn Bowling’, ‘Egg and Spoon Race’, ‘Penalty Shoot-out’ and ‘Three-legged Race’. After the conclusion of the games, the Ambassadors and other invited guests were then invited to enjoy a variety of dishes prepared by the participating Embassies of ASEAN Member States. Among the dishes prepared by the Embassy of Malaysia were Chicken Biryani and Bihun Goreng as well as traditional delicacies such as karipap and apam. The event concluded at 1.30 pm following the prize giving ceremony for all the winners of the games.
