7 June 2023 – H.E. Mr. Motohiro Ono, Governor of Saitama Prefecture paid a courtesy call on Mr Anwar Udzir, Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM), Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo. The Governor was accompanied by senior Saitama Prefecture officials; Mr Kazutoshi Nojiri, Executive Director of Regional Economy and Tourism; Mr Mamoru Shimada, Managing Director of Business Establishment Division; and Ms Rika Abe, Managing Director of International Division. Also present were Mr. Imran Yusoff, Counsellor of Human Resources Development and Mr Shamsul Amir Azman, Deputy Director of Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).
During the call, H.E. Mr Ono expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to meet where he could relay Saitama Prefecture’s interest to explore trade and investment opportunity in Malaysia. In order to materialise this effort, the Governor is scheduled to lead a trade and investment mission to Malaysia end of this year. Governor Ono also planned a follow up discussion with the Embassy in short future.
Mr Anwar Udzir welcomed the initiative and applauded H.E. Governor Ono’s efforts in strengthening bilateral relations particularly in the field of economic cooperation between Malaysia and Japan.
