18 January 2024 – H.E. Dato’ Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, was honoured to receive a courtesy call by H.E. Tsuge Yoshifumi, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, at the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo. State Minister Tsuge was accompanied by Mr. Nakai Yuichi, Director of the Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the call, State Minister Tsuge extended the Government of Japan’s appreciation for the messages of condolence and words of encouragement received from Malaysia, particularly from the Honourable Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, and H.E. Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Haji Hasan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, in response to the unfortunate earthquake in Noto Peninsula, and the incident at the Haneda Airport early this year.
H.E. Ambassador Dato’ highlighted on the importance to expand cooperation in disaster preparedness, response and management, in view that both countries are prone to natural disasters. H.E. Ambassador Dato’ and State Minister Tsuge also reaffirmed their commitment to work closely to ensure the success of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) between Malaysia and Japan.
