21 April 2025 – The Embassy had the honour of receiving the Special Select Committee on Social and Community Affairs of the House of Councillors, Parliament of Malaysia. The delegation was led by H.E. Senator Datuk Wira Dr. Mohd Hatta bin Md Ramli, and was welcomed by Mr. Anwar Udzir, Deputy Chief of Mission.

The visit formed part of the Committee’s working trip to Japan, aimed at exploring best practices in the areas of social policy, welfare services, and community development. In support of this effort, the Embassy arranged a series of engagements with relevant Japanese government agencies and institutions that are actively involved in key sectors such as healthcare, ageing population policy, and inclusive community initiatives.

The programme serves to enhance Malaysia’s understanding of Japan’s holistic approach to social challenges, particularly in addressing demographic shifts and promoting resilient, people-centric communities. The visit further underscores the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation in deepening bilateral relations and advancing Malaysia’s social policy agenda through strategic international collaboration.
