The St. Mary's International School Carnival is an annual event organized by the St. Mary's Association. The Carnival is one of the school's biggest fund raising projects. Funds collected at the Carnival are used to fund projects or acquire equipment, all meant to provide better facilities for the students.
This year, the Carnival was held on 12 May 2007 at the school compound. Activities held during the Carnival included entertainment, games, 'World Market', handicraft sales and many others. The event began with a National Costume Parade participated by foreign countries including Malaysia. Clad in baju melayu complete with samping and songkok for the boys and baju kurung for the girls, Malaysian 'little ambassadors' provided colour and splendour to the parade. Guests and visitors were then entertained to performances by the school's choir and jazz band, taiko drummers, Hawaiian dancers, Swing Fellow Jazz Orchestra and Yamaguchi Guitar Group, among others.
Raffle tickets were also sold with an array of attractive prizes awaiting the winners.
The International Food Plaza has traditionally been the crowd puller. About 25 countries participated in the International Food Plaza selling a variety of food and delicacies from all corners of the world. As in the previous years, PERWAKILAN Tokyo participated in the International Food Plaza. Famous for its satay and peanut sauce, Malaysian booth was a sell out at the Carnival. Other dishes prepared by PERWAKILAN Tokyo were bee hoon soup, roti jala with chicken curry, jemput-jemput pisang and vadei.
The event was a huge success for both the organiser and PERWAKILAN Tokyo. With all PERWAKILAN TOKYO members displaying commitment, good cooperation and coordination while being supported by their spouses and family members who turned up in full force to help grill the satay, there was no better way to spend a sunny and hot Saturday than participating in a charity event such as this. With good leadership demonstrated by its President, Datin Jazliza Jalaludin coupled with the support and wise advice from its Advisor, H.E. Ambassador Dato' Mohd. Radzi Abdul Rahman, there is little doubt that PERWAKILAN Tokyo will see many more successful participation in charitable activities in and around Tokyo.
