




8 May 2023 – H.E. Dato’ Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany, Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, attended a dinner reception commemorating the 65th Anniversary of Japan-Malaysia diplomatic relations and the establishment of Japan-Malaysia Association (JMA). The event was officiated by H.E. Keiji Furuya, Chairman of JMA, Member of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Japan-Malaysia Parliamentary Friendship League.
The event was also attended by H.E. Haruko Arimura, Member of the House of Councillors, Vice Chairman of JMA, and Secretary General of Japan-Malaysia Parliamentary Friendship League; Mr. Yutaka Arima, Director General of the Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan; Mr. Tsuyoshi Nagano, Chairman of Japan-Malaysia Economic Association; Mr. Takakazu Ogawa, President of JMA; as well as members of JMA and Malaysian embassy officials
In his remarks, H.E. Ambassador Dato’ congratulated JMA and the Government of Japan on the joyous occasion and applauded JMA’s unending support and continued commitment in fostering friendship of the two nations through various activities and programmes organised under the excellent leadership of JMA.
He added that for the past 65 years, Malaysia and Japan demonstrated dynamic performance in key areas of cooperation including trade, investment, industrial development, human resource, defence cooperation, capacity building, tourism education, ICT, sciences and technology. H.E. Ambassador Dato’ reiterated Malaysia’s commitment to further consolidate bilateral relations with Japan as a very important partner of Malaysia.
