UCAPAN OLEH

TYT DATO’ KENNEDY JAWAN

DUTA BESAR MALAYSIA KE JEPUN

SEMPENA SAMBUTAN HARI KEBANGSAAN MALAYSIA

31 OGOS 2020

Yang Dihormati warga HBS Kedutaan Besar Malaysia di Tokyo,

All LRS present here today,

Selamat Pagi, Good morning, Ohayou Gozaimasu,

5.     The theme “Malaysia Prihatin” or Malaysia Cares is in line with the government’s aspiration as all Malaysians come together to fight the spread of COVID-19 in Malaysia. It also showcased the government’s initiatives in ensuring the continuity in the lives of Malaysians through initiatives that improved the economy of the country and the welfare of the people.

6.     In Malaysia, this year's National Day celebration on Aug 31 will definitely be history in the making for Malaysians as it will be the first time the parade, which will be televised, will adhere to practices under the new normal. The event will be pre-recorded separately for each contingent in order to reduce mass public gatherings, as well as to ensure COVID-19 pandemic standard operating procedures are complied with.

7.     The Government will also not hold any procession as was the case before. This time, the (National Day) event will be held at Dataran Pahlawan, Putrajaya with His Majesty inspecting a guard of honour.

Ladies and gentlemen,

8.As we celebrate the 63rd year of independence, we must also remember the 63rd anniversary of Malaysia-Japan relations that was established in 1957.

9.The role of our Embassy since then has evolved to become what we are today. This would not have been possible without the dedicated officials and staffs who have rendered their services for the King and country through their respective roles since 1957.

10.This year, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we interact and carry out our roles in the Embassy. I hope despite these unprecedented times, we will continue to celebrate Malaysia with patriotism, unity and love for the country.

11.Lastly, allow me to once again thank all of you, for your presence this morning and wish all you Selamat Hari Kebangsaan ke 63!

Merdeka, Merdeka, Merdeka!
