The Embassy of Malaysia in Astana, Kazakhstan hosted a Reception on 22 September 2014 at the Marriott Astana Hotel to mark the 57th Anniversary of Malaysia’s Independence Day.
The Government of Kazakhstan was represented by H.E. Timur Zhaksylykov, Deputy Minister of National Economy. Also in attendance later in the event were H.E. Mr Askar Mussinov, Deputy Foreign Minister and H.E. Beibut Atamkulov, Executive Secretary, Ministry of Investments and Development (immediate past Kazakh Ambassador to Malaysia)
The event was attended by over 250 guests comprising local dignitiaries (including Senators) and officials (including MFA Malaysia Desk), the diplomatic corps, resident Malaysians, representatives of the private sector, academia, journalists and members of the Kazakh alumni of students.
Guests were treated to a wide variety of Malaysian culinary delights prepared by Malaysian Chef Kamaruzzaman Hasan (fondly known as Chef K), teh tarik prepared by Tea Master Norazlin Mat Janus (together with demonstrations) and cultural performances by Wandie Arts Performance, aside from the opportunity to witness demonstration and purchase pewter ladies accessories by Paulini Pewter.
