On 23 July 2025, H.E. Ambassador met with Dr. Ali Sher Mohamad, Representative of the ASEAN Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Central Asia) based in Astana. The discussion centered on enhancing bilateral trade and investment cooperation, with a particular focus on emerging opportunities in energy/green energy– specifically potential areas on trade and investment, energy/renewal energy, and tourism.
A significant portion of the discussion was devoted to higher education collaboration. Dr. Ali Sher, who also serves in advisory roles for several Malaysian universities that have established partnerships with Kazakhstani tertiary institutions highlighted the importance of academic cooperation.
Education remains a key pillar in the strong and growing relationship between Malaysia and Kazakhstan. To date, 30 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) have been signed between higher education institutions from both countries, fostering academic exchange and knowledge sharing.
The productive exchange of views during the discussion will support the Embassy’s ongoing efforts to further strengthen cooperation across various sectors, reaffirming Malaysia’s commitment to deepening ties with Kazakhstan.
