ASTANA, 14 October 2016: ACA Embassies in Astana, organized a cultural festival at Nazarbayev University to commemorate the 49th Anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN. The event was aimed to promote awareness about ASEAN as well as deepen friendship and camaraderie between the ASEAN Community with the people of Kazakhstan and the international community.
The event received over 250 guests comprising faculty members and students of Nazarbayev University, expatriat and diplomatic corps and the ASEAN Community in Astana. The Vice-President for Student Affairs and International Cooperation of the Nazarbayev University Mrs. Kadisha Dairova welcomed the ASEAN embassies for their effort to promote ASEAN to the university community. She hoped that the cultural festival will be an annual affair to bring the ASEAN and university closer together.
The international audience enjoyed the traditional dances and songs performed by the respective embassies. Apart from the cultural show each embassy showcased their respective countries’ unique arts and crafts as well as food. The huge economic potential and touristic opportunities of ASEAN countries were displayed to the visitors.
Many guests conveyed their appreciation of the cultural diversity of ASEAN countries and were happily presented with promotional and tourism brochures and souvenirs.
