The Embassy of Malaysia in Astana is delighted to share the official handover of the ASEAN Committee in Astana (ACA) Chairmanship from Thailand to Indonesia.
On 22 July 2025, H.E. Dr. Mochamad Fadjroel Rachman, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia was warmly welcomed as ACA’s new Chairman for the term 2025-2026 during a meaningful handover ceremony hosted at the Residence of H.E Piyapin Niyomrerks, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand during its 39th meeting.
This marks a new chapter in regional cooperation, as Indonesia leads ACA for the coming year, to be followed by Vietnam and Malaysia. Malaysia previously held the chairmanship for the term 2023-2024 under the leadership of H.E. Ambassador Mohd Adli Abdullah.
The Embassy is confident that under Indonesia’s leadership, the ACA will continue to forge stronger partnerships with the Republic of Kazakhstan, elevating ASEAN’s visibility and impact. We look forward to supporting Indonesia’s Chairmanship and advancing ASEAN causes together.
We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to H.E. Ambassador Piyapin Niyomrerks for her dedicated and exemplary leadership during her term as ACA Chair (2024 – 2025). Her efforts have played a vital role in strengthening ACA’s presence in Kazakhstan, fostering successful collaboration, and bringing the ASEAN community closer together through a variety of meaningful activities conducted together.
As background, the ASEAN Committee in Astana was formally established on 4th March 2014 and endorsed by the ASEAN Secretary-General, in accordance with procedures adopted at the 43rd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in 2012.
