The Malaysian contingent will be taking part in the 7th Asian Winter Games Astana-Almaty in Kazakhstan. A total of 15 officials and 22 athletes from Malaysia will be taking part in 2 sports which are Ice Hockey and Ice Skating. The Malaysia Contingent is headed by the Chef de Mission, YBhg. Dato' Lee Hwa Beng, President of the Malaysia Ice Hockey Federation (MIHF) and the Deputy Chef de Mission, YBhg. Datin Laila Abdullah, President of the Ice Skating Association of Malaysia (ISAM).
Kazakhstan is the first nation among the post-Soviet countries and in the Muslim world to host the said event. A total of 27 countries are taking part in the games. The Asian Winter Games will last till February 6, with 69 sets of medals in 11 sports up for grabs.
