H.E Ambassador Ilango Karuppannan paid a courtesy call on H.E Nabih Berri, Speaker of Parliament of Lebanon on 3 June 2010. During the meeting, they discussed an array of issues of mutual interest, particularly on economic relations between the two countries. They also discussed the current political situation in the country and the region, including the recent Israeli attack on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla.
Besides, H.E Nabih Berri expressed appreciation for Malaysia’s participation in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and welcomed any expansion of Malaysian troops in the future. The courtesy call was also attended by Datuk Omar Jundi, the Malaysian Honorary Consul-General.
