H.E Ambassador Ilango Karuppannan paid a courtesy call on H.E Saad Hariri, Prime Minister of Lebanon on 10 May 2010 at the latter’s office during which various issues of interest to Malaysia and Lebanon were discussed. Among others, the Ambassador highlighted about Malaysia’s commitment in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) as well as Malaysia’s assistance in the Lebanese Smart Card initiative. They also discussed other potential areas of cooperation to be further explored, including in trade and investment as well as solid waste management.
H.E Saad Hariri gave his assurance to continue rendering assistance in order to further promote Malaysia-Lebanon bilateral relations and cooperation. The courtesy call was also attended by Datuk Omar Jundi, the Malaysian Honorary Consul-General.
