The Ambassador of Malaysia, H.E Mr. Ilango Karuppannan hosted the Malaysian Gala Night on 30 November 2010 at the Riviera Hotel, Beirut. The Gala Night was held to honour the Lebanese civil servants who had attended MTCP courses in Malaysia. In addition, the event also gathered senior Lebanese government members, Members of Parliament and private sector. The overall aim was to facilitate networking between the MTCP Alumni, Lebanese government officials and the Embassy of Malaysia with the eventual aim of creating a ‘Friends of Malaysia’ network. In his remarks, the Ambassador expressed Malaysia‘s appreciation to the Lebanese government for its support and cooperation given to the Embassy in carrying out its tasks. During the event, the attendees were entertained with Malaysian cultural performance, including traditional dances and a demonstration of ‘silat’ performed by members of our Armed Forces serving in the UNIFIL. A combination of Malaysian and international delicacies were served. The programme also included a raffle draw for 14 prizes with the top prize being a return ticket from Beirut to Kuala Lumpur courtesy of Malaysia Airlines.
