Ambassador Azri attended the Medal Parade ceremony of MALBATT 850-12 at UNP 2-1 Marakah Camp, South Lebanon. The ceremony saw the presentation of United Nations medals by Brigadier General Nicola Mandolesi, Sector West Commander of UNIFIL, Ambassador Azri, and other senior-ranking officials. Ambassador Azri conveyed Malaysia’s pride in the professionalism, discipline, and commitment demonstrated by MALBATT 850-12, especially in their civil-military cooperation (CIMIC) initiatives and humanitarian outreach to local communities.
He also reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to UNIFIL’s peacekeeping mandate, highlighting the importance of diplomacy and peaceful resolution amidst the current situation in the Middle East. He commended the strong bilateral ties between Malaysia and Lebanon, which have been established since 1963, and lauded the recent high-level military exchanges as symbols of enduring cooperation.
