H.E Ilango Karuppannan had a meeting with H.E Saad Hariri, Prime Minister of Lebanon on 30 September 2010 at the latter’s office during which various an array of issues of interest to Malaysia and Lebanon were discussed. Among others, the Ambassador discussed Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s proposed visit to Malaysia. The Ambassador also stressed on Malaysia’s commitment in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping mission.
The Ambassador also highlighted about a study tour of Lebanese senior civil servants to Malaysia from 4-8 October 2010 to learn Malaysia’s experiences and achievements in the public sector. Besides that, the Ambassador informed Prime Minister Saad Hariri of the impending visit of MATRADE to conduct a seminar, scheduled to take place on 18 October 2010, to promote Malaysia’s capabilities in solid waste management.
The Ambassador also took the opportunity to inquire from Prime Minister Saad Hariri his reading of the latest political situation of Lebanon.
