Ambassador Ilango Karuppannan met with Riad Salameh, Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon on 19 January 2011 at the latter’s office. The meeting was arranged to give an opportunity for the Ambassador to enquire the Central Bank Governor’s assessment of the effect of the political crisis to commerce and the Lebanese Pound. Besides responding to the enquiries, the governor also took time to explain about the strength of Lebanon’s banking system.
