The Mayor of Municipality of Metropolitan Lima expressed its appreciation to the Embassy of Malaysia in Lima for the continued contributions since 2016 towards engaging youths in Lima through various social and cultural activities besides promoting awareness and understanding of Malaysia in Peru. A ceremony of presenting the token of appreciation was held at the Embassy of Malaysia on 15 August 2017 and a representative from the Mayor’s office presented the memento.
The Embassy of Malaysia in Lima has been assisting Peruvian youths through the Muni Becas Programme. Among the activities were Malaysian Traditional Cooking Workshop, Bahasa Malaysia Class and Traditional Malaysian Class Dance. Future activities being contemplated are Malaysian traditional sports workshop, informal dialogue sessions on Malaysia and some other cultural related activities.
This initiative was taken to help young Peruvians who do not have the opportunity to learn from foreign countries. Through such interactions, it is hoped that their self-confidence and inter personal skills will be enhanced. Through this program, they know Malaysia better now.
