The Embassy of Malaysia with the support of the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima organised a Malaysian cuisine cooking workshop for 40 Peruvian youths under the programme “Muni Becas”. The workshop was held at the Le Grand Gourmet (Institute of Cooking Education) on 26 July 2017, with the aim to help future Peruvian chefs to better understand the technique and flavor of Malaysian cuisines.

An interactive demonstration on how to prepare and cook the Malaysian Cuisine was conducted by Mrs. Lailatul-Akmal Abdul Rahman, Third Secretary of the Embassy of Malaysia. The cuisines prepared were Udang Goreng Mentega Bergandum, Bihun Goreng Siam, Bingka Jagung and the popular beverage, Teh Tarik. During the event, there was also a performance on how to prepare Teh Tarik by Mr. Abdul Rahim bin Daud, spouse of the Third Secretary.

The youngsters were eager to learn the new cuisines. They wanted to put to use in a future what they learnt so that the knowledge on Malaysian cuisines could be shared with other Peruvians.
