| Celebrating ASEAN Day 2025 – Unity in Diversity, Strength in Community On 8 August 2025, the Embassy of Malaysia in Lima, in its capacity as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Lima (ACL), proudly hosted the 58th ASEAN Day Reception at the nHow Hotel, in conjunction with Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025. The reception brought together distinguished guests including senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru, ASEAN Dialogue Partners, captains of industry, academics, members of the ASEAN community in Lima, and friends of ASEAN—reflecting the region’s enduring spirit of partnership and shared aspirations. As the only ASEAN Missions in Lima—Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand—joined hands to present a vibrant evening of traditional cultural performances, the event showcased the richness of Southeast Asia’s heritage and the unity that binds our nations. Guests were treated to an array of Malaysian culinary delights, including nasi lemak, bee hoon goreng, roti jala, and a selection of traditional kuih such as karipap, onde-onde gula melaka, and bingka ubi. Malaysia’s iconic teh tarik added a warm and familiar touch to the celebration. This meaningful programme not only honoured ASEAN’s 58 years of regional cooperation and peace, but also reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to promoting ASEAN’s visibility and values in Latin America. It was a true reflection of “ASEAN: A Community of One Vision, One Identity, One Community.” |
