Senator Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development met the Malaysian business community in Lima and other Peruvian business circle over dinner on 28 June 2016. The dinner meeting was organised by H.E. Mr. Chuah Teong Ban, Ambassador of Malaysia to Peru.
During the dinner meeting, Deputy Minister Chew took the opportunity to update the Malaysian business circle on the current political developments in Malaysia and also the various policies of the government of Malaysia. She also enquired about their welfare and the business prospects for investment in Peru. The Peruvian business people shared with her their views on the potentials of enhancing bilateral relations between Malaysia and Peru, particularly at the commerce level.
The Deputy Minister Chew was in Lima, Peru to attend Women and the Economy Forum under the auspices of APEC from 27 to 30 June 2016. It was a Ministerial Meeting held to exchange views on the best practices adopted by each APEC member to promote and advance women’s economic empowerment, greater inclusion of women in the APEC regional economy and also to coordinate gender activities across other APEC working groups.
