To commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of our Independence Day, a flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Embassy of Malaysia in Lima, Peru on 31 August 2017. 20 Malaysians residing in Lima attended the auspicious gathering to pay homage and sing national anthem, Negaraku while Jalur Gemilang was hoisted. It was a proud and emotional moment for all of us to see our flag fluttering high in Peru.
In line with this year’s theme “Negaraku Sehati Sejiwa”, H.E. Chuah Teong Ban, Ambassador of Malaysia to Peru in his speech urged all Malaysians in Lima to be united and forged closer camaraderie as we are so far from our home country, almost half the globe away. Malaysians were also reminded to register as voters for the coming General Election as well as the on-going national initiatives, such as TN50.
To renew their sense of loyalty and patriotism, they pledged ‘Rukun Negara’ which was led by the Ambassador.
